I am... Michael Ward, Principal of Mike Ward English Coach. I am the resident coach and mentor for the team at Dataföreningen Kompetens – and my services are also available to the company’s clients.
I have... been training professionals from Swedish government departments, defence contractors, financial services operatives and other members of the Nordic business community since 1978. I founded Mike Ward English Coach in 2007. I have also worked in sales and financial services. In the UK, during the period from 1993 - 2002, I set up and ran two other businesses, the first manufacturing giftware and the second providing a printing service.
My favorite place in the world is... the Stockholm Archipelago. I am as thrilled now when I see the archipelago as I was the first time I saw it in May 1976. It must easily qualify as one of the ten most stunning areas of outstanding natural beauty on the planet. It is also a birdwatchers’ paradise, and that just happens to be a hobby of mine…
People would be suprised if they knew that… my connections with Stockholm go back to April 1976. That’s exactly forty years! I know I am actually more shocked... Because it seems like yesterday that I stepped off the Tor Line ferry in Gothenburg.
The best thing about being a coach is… that I am able to provide my clients with a tailored product. This means that my coaching is centred around the needs of each and every client. I am there to support the client in the role that he or she plays within their organisation. I must therefore involve my self totally in tasks, be they of a daily, repetive nature (email writing, regular reporting) or specific (presentations, speech writing).
No two clients are the same and I have always enjoyed immensely meeting new people. I am also able to become involved in many and varied professions and learn much myself in the course of my work. My coaching lends itself well to small groups of up to approximately 6 individuals and is idea for project and management groups. It is then great to get people interacting with each other.
